Womens Health and beauty

On a Visceral level, I can accept that statement. But my conscious brain just ain’t buying it! I did an informal poll of friends and coworkers, and only one was enlightened enough to agree wholeheartedly.  health and beauty Perhaps it’s the stress of living in these tough economic times that prevents us from feeling anything but anxiety when wondering how much money is enough. But the revelation Jean shared is an appealing one, so I dug a little deeper to find out how we can liberate ourselves from financial fear so we can better appreciate what we have. Here, a few revelations of my own: health and beauty

• MONEY COSTS TIME. You can’t escape the fact that earning more dough often means working more hours—hours spent away from home, family, friends, romantic partners, and hobbies. This trade-off can negatively affect happiness. Cassie Mogilner, Ph.D., a professor of marketing at the Wharton School, has conducted some research in this area, but she admits that more needs to be done to truly understand the relationship of time, money, and happiness. For now, try to determine your own set point when it comes to the interplay of financial gain and social sacrifice.

• EXPERIENCES TRUMP MATERIAL GOODS. This is one “truth” I can accept at face value. One of my passions is traveling, and I know for certain that my trip to Thailand last Christmas was way more valuable to me personally than a designer wardrobe ever could be. The same goes for smaller-scale experiences—attending a concert, taking a road trip to see an old friend, the price of a lift ticket to spend the day snowboarding. health and beauty • GIVING AWAY MONEY MAKES YOU HAPPIER. A few years ago I was lucky enough to attend a talk by former president Bill Clinton. He was promoting his book Giving and recounted, in his completely engrossing way, countless stories of charitable donations people had made around the world. Some gave a little, some gave a lot—but regardless, they all experienced the unadulterated joy of that selfless act. It’s hard to part with money, especially when we’re freaked about our own financial security. But if you have enough to meet your needs and some set aside for emergencies, donating to a cause you believe in will reward you emotionally—and it will help mitigate that stronghold money has over your sense of well-being. When you think about it, a charitable donation is also a gift you give yourself.

Survival of the 'Fittest'

The city recently welcomed the smallest baby in India, Born at just 27 weeks of pregnancy, it is very difficult for such babies to survive and lead a normal life. She is a beneficiary of advancements in neonatal and perinatal sciences, which help babies with life-threatening conditions to survive

“Birth is the most difficult stage of one’s life, a day of highest risk”, says Dr Tushar Parikh, neonatologist and ln-charge of Neonatal ICU at ONP Tulip where baby Sayali, the smallest surviving baby in the country was delivered. At 495 Gms, Sayali Pawar is said to be the smallest surviving baby in the country. She was born premature at just 27 weeks of pregnancy to Shaila & Laxman Pawar who belongs to a lower middle class family from Parner, Ahemadnagar. Shaila is an example of progress medical science has made today. Shaila Pawar, 36 has had a history of 13 unsuccessful pregnancies with 3 abortions & 3 intrauterine deaths. The doctor Couples, Sandeep & Smita Deole from Narayangaon who were managing the pregnancy identified that she would get sudden abrupt elevation in her blood pressure during pregnancy, which is called pregnancy induced hypertension (PIH).

Dr. Parikh tells us that an extensive survey conducted in Mumbai shows that out of 13,900 cases; seven to eight per cent pregnant women suffer from PIH. He says that the source of PIH can be traced to the placenta. “PIH can be called a ‘Placental disorder’, which affects the mother as well as the fetus. Placenta is the interface between the mother and the fetus and is a temporary organ which transfers oxygen and nutrients from mother to the fetus. It also allows release of carbon dioxide and waste products from the fetus. Placenta is 2/3 fetal and 1/3 maternal tissue.”

What can be a possible solution to overcome PIH? In Dr. Parikh’s Opinion, the only solution is to regularly monitor blood pressure of the mother & the growth of the fetus. “This is a global problem and there is no full proof answer to prevent or treat it. In case of PIH, what the doctors can do is control the BP with medication and monitor the growth of the fetus, if anything is abnormal then the doc needs to intervene, he informs that the problem usually arises if the pregnancy is either too early or too late and if this problem arises once, it is likely to show up later on as well. Both the maternal and fetal side is affected in PIH. On the fetus side there is Malnutrition, growth is slower, weight is less and oxygen supply is also considerably less, these conditions may cause death. The maternal side suffers brains dysfunctions, problems in the liver and retina as well. He says, “Shaila was beginning to show symptoms of retina dysfunction and hence we had to operate at the earliest.”

Premature babies have to face a lot of problems after birth. Dr. Amita Phadnis, Director of ONP Tulip Hospital & Dept. of Pediatrics & Neonatology says, “Babies born this small have extremely poor function of all body organs which include heart, brain, kidneys, Intestine, skin, adrenals etc & all of them need support for survival of the child.”

The 1 question that will remain foremost is what the chances are of leading a normal life for these babies in the future. Dr. Parikh says, “As compared to normal babies, these infants do have a smaller chance of leading a normal and a healthy life. But that does not mean that all the babies cannot lead a normal life. There is no guarantee that the baby will be completely healthy in the future. It is a 50-50 situation. If there are any abnormalities or anomalies, they can be detected in the first few weeks after birth itself”.

“Asphyxia, infection and premature birth are the three main reasons which cause death in preterm babies. There is a lot of potential in Human life and we have to give the best chance for survival,” he concludes.

Bacterial Vaginosis Treatments – Finding Natural Cures for Bacterial Vaginosis and The Vaginal Odor

Category: womens health — Tags: , , – admin @ 12:13 am

Bacterial vaginosis treatments come in various options. When battling the symptoms of bacterial vaginosis and the vaginal odor especially, increasing numbers of women are turning to natural cures which not only offer relief from the symptoms, but they also help to cure this infection for good. In addition to the various conventional treatment options, this article also discusses finding natural cures for bacterial vaginosis.

Vaginal Infection

Bacterial vaginosis treatments cannot be discussed without a brief background on vaginal infections. This bacterial infection is one of the top three vaginal infections that a woman will suffer during a lifetime and is also at the top of this list. The other two vaginal infections include yeast infections and trichomoniasis which is a sexually transmitted disease.

Each woman has a normal vaginal discharge that varies from woman to woman and a normal vaginal discharge is usually clear and odorless. It can also be milky. A normal discharge is important to maintain a healthy environment in the vaginal area. If there is a change in the vaginal discharge that is accompanied by other symptoms such as itching, redness, soreness, etc, it could signal a vaginal infection.

Bacterial Vaginosis

Bacterial vaginosis treatments cannot also be discussed without discussing what bacterial vaginosis is. While other vaginal infections such as yeast infections are caused by the overgrowth of yeast or candida, most vaginal infections are caused by bacteria. This infection is not a sexually transmitted disease and a male sexual partner will not require bacterial vaginosis treatments.

This vaginal infection results when certain bacteria in the vaginal area excessively overgrow for various reasons leading to this infection. One of the main symptoms of this vaginal infection is an excessive discharge that has an unpleasant and often embarrassing odor. This odor has been described as being “fishy”. This discharge and odor increases significantly after sexual intercourse.

Bacterial Vaginosis Causes

The causes that may lead to the various symptoms of bacterial vaginosis are still being researched but certain risk factors that increase the risk of developing this particular vaginal infection have been identified.

Activities that may increase a woman’s risk of developing this bacterial infection in the vaginal area include but are not limited to vaginal douching or the use of various “feminine” sprays, tobacco smoking, sexual intercourse with a female partner, multiple sexual partners, etc.

It is important to remember that this infection as well as other vaginal infections may not produce any symptoms at all. Also, it is important to note that even women that do not have multiple sexual partners or engage in sexual intercourse, may still develop this infection.

Bacterial Vaginosis Treatments

1. Traditional or Conventional Treatment Options

Your doctor may prescribe various antibiotics that may be administered orally or applied directly to the vaginal area such as a gel or cream. These antibiotics only seek to treat the various symptoms of this vaginal infection and not the root cause. This means that it is very likely that this infection will return.

This infection usually returns in the year immediately following the treatment of this infection with antibiotics. Frequent antibiotic use may cause your body to develop a resistance to antibiotics. Using antibiotics can also lead to the development of other vaginal infections such as yeast infections due to the change in the vaginal environment from antibiotic use.

2. Natural Cures for Bacterial Vaginosis

Unlike conventional treatment methods, natural treatments for this infection not only treat the symptoms of this infection but also treat the root of the problem to ensure that the infection does not return again and you having to deal with the embarrassing symptoms again and again.

Natural bacterial vaginosis treatments also do not lead to any side effects that are usually associated with antibiotic use. They also are relatively inexpensive when compared to the antibiotics. Natural cures use many ingredients that are readily available at a local health store or that are available in your home. These home remedies seek to work with your body and not against it for a total body approach to healing.
